The Formula One drivers with the most Grand Prix victories in the sport's history, led by Lewis Hamilton's record-breaking tally.
Lewis Hamilton has the most career Grand Prix wins in Formula One history, with 106 wins. Michael Schumacher is second with 91 wins and Max Verstappen third with 71 wins. The ranking uses Formula One World Championship Grand Prix victories, excluding sprint and non-championship races, from StatsF1 cross-checked against Wikipedia, as of July 2026.
Winning a Formula One Grand Prix is among the hardest things to do in motorsport — a driver needs the right car, flawless execution, and often a bit of luck across a grueling season. Over more than seven decades, only a handful of drivers have stacked up wins in the dozens. This list ranks the ten drivers with the most career Grand Prix victories in F1 World Championship history. It's a mix of eras: modern hybrid-era dominators like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen sit alongside legends of the 1980s and 1990s such as Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, and pioneers of the 1960s and 70s like Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark. Whether you follow F1 today or grew up on a different generation of racing, this is the definitive count of who has stood on the top step the most.
The all-time Formula One wins leader, Hamilton broke Michael Schumacher's long-standing record in 2020 and has extended it since, taking his 106th victory — and his first for Ferrari — at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix. His seven world titles tie him with Schumacher for the most in history.
Schumacher held the all-time wins record for 14 years until Hamilton passed him in 2020. His five straight titles with Ferrari in the early 2000s remain one of the sport's greatest runs of dominance.
A four-time world champion and still an active driver, Verstappen continues to add to his win tally. He is the highest-ranked driver on this list never to have raced in the pre-2015 era.
Vettel won four consecutive world titles with Red Bull from 2010 to 2013, becoming the youngest four-time champion in history. He retired at the end of the 2022 season.
Nicknamed "The Professor" for his calculated racing style, Prost held the all-time wins record from 1987 until Schumacher passed him in 2001. He won four world championships across the 1980s and early 1990s.
A three-time champion widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers ever, Senna's win tally was cut short by his death at Imola in 1994. His rivalry with Prost defined an era of Formula One.
A two-time champion, Alonso is the most experienced driver in F1 history by race starts. Still competing decades after his debut, he remains a benchmark for longevity in the sport.
The 1992 World Champion was known for his aggressive, crowd-pleasing style. After leaving F1 he crossed the Atlantic and won the IndyCar title in 1993.
A three-time champion in the 1960s and 70s, Stewart was also a pioneering advocate for driver safety whose campaigning helped transform the sport. He retired at the top of his game in 1973.
A two-time champion of the 1960s, Clark is tied with Niki Lauda on 25 wins but ranks ahead on win rate, having achieved his total from far fewer starts (72 to Lauda's 173) before his death in 1968. Many consider him the most naturally gifted driver of his generation.

Only full World Championship Grand Prix wins count; sprint-race wins and non-championship race wins are excluded. Where two drivers are tied on wins (Jim Clark and Niki Lauda at 25), the driver with the higher win rate — wins per race start — is ranked ahead, which places Clark in the top ten (Clark scored his 25 wins from 72 starts versus Lauda's 173). Win totals for active drivers (Hamilton, Verstappen, Alonso) are current as of the update date and may change.
