Six decades of Super Bowls, one scoreboard: the Patriots and Steelers share the lead with six Lombardi Trophies each.
The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers share the record for Super Bowl wins, with six championships each; New England ranks first on its 12 appearances to Pittsburgh's 8. The Dallas Cowboys are third with five, ahead of San Francisco on the more recent title. The ranking counts Super Bowl championships from Super Bowl I through Super Bowl LX (the 2025 season).
The Super Bowl has been played 60 times and won by 20 different franchises, but the leaderboard is top-heavy: just ten teams have three or more Lombardi Trophies. This list ranks those ten by championships won, current through Super Bowl LX (the 2025 season, played February 8, 2026), when Seattle's 29-13 win over New England gave the Seahawks their second title and left the Patriots and Steelers tied at the top with six apiece.
Each dot = 1 championship
Tied for the most titles (six) and alone with the most Super Bowl appearances (12). All six championships came in the Brady-Belichick era between the 2001 and 2018 seasons, including Super Bowl LI's famous comeback over Atlanta. They have also lost six, most recently Super Bowl LX to Seattle.
The 1970s Steel Curtain dynasty won four titles in six seasons (IX, X, XIII, XIV), then added Super Bowls XL and XLIII. Pittsburgh's .750 Super Bowl winning percentage (6-2) is the best of any team with more than five Super Bowl appearances.
Three titles in four seasons in the 1990s (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX) on top of the 1970s championships (VI, XII) put Dallas third on the recency tiebreaker over San Francisco. No Cowboys title since the 1995 season — a drought now past 30 years.
Won their first five Super Bowl appearances — XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV, and XXIX — under Joe Montana and Steve Young, then lost their next three (XLVII, LIV, LVIII). Tied with Dallas at five titles and eight appearances; Dallas's 1995 title is one year newer.
Won Super Bowl IV in 1970, then waited 50 years for the next one. The Mahomes-Reid era delivered three more (LIV, LVII, LVIII), including back-to-back titles in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Seven appearances is the most of any four-title franchise.
Four titles in five trips, and the two most famous both came against New England — Super Bowl XLII and the XLVI rematch. Eli Manning's Giants also won XXI and XXV, and their 4-1 record matches Green Bay's for the best Super Bowl winning percentage in the top ten.
Won the first two Super Bowls ever played (I and II) and added XXXI and XLV for a 4-1 record. Tied with the Giants and Chiefs at four titles; the Giants' 2011 title is one season newer than Green Bay's 2010 crown.
Lost their first four Super Bowl trips, then won back-to-back with John Elway (XXXII, XXXIII) and a third behind a dominant defense in Super Bowl 50. Their five Super Bowl losses are second only to New England's six.
Three titles in a ten-season span (XVII, XXII, XXVI), all won under the Redskins name before the franchise became the Commanders. Tied with the Raiders and Broncos at three wins; their 1991 title is the newest of the three-win group outside Denver.
Championships in three different decades — XI and XV in Oakland, XVIII in Los Angeles — before the franchise's move to Las Vegas, where it is still chasing its first title. Their 1983 crown is the oldest of any title in the top ten.

Franchises are ranked by Super Bowl championships won, counting Super Bowls I through LX (the 1966 through 2025 seasons). Franchise totals follow the team through relocations and renames — for example, Washington's titles as the Redskins and the Raiders' as the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders count toward the current franchise. Ties are broken by total Super Bowl appearances (more appearances ranks higher), then by most recent championship: Dallas edges San Francisco (1995 vs. 1994 title), the Giants edge Green Bay (2011 vs. 2010), and Washington edges Las Vegas (1991 vs. 1983). Only the ten franchises with at least three titles are listed; twelve franchises have never won a Super Bowl.
The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are tied with six championships each. The Patriots have also lost six Super Bowls, the most appearances (12) of any franchise.
No. Eight franchises have won back-to-back Super Bowls, but none has ever won three in a row. The Steelers are the only team to win consecutive titles twice (1974-75 and 1978-79).
Twenty of the 32 franchises have won at least one Super Bowl. Four have never appeared in one: the Browns, Lions, Jaguars, and Texans.
No. This list counts only Super Bowls (1966 season onward). Several franchises won NFL championships before the Super Bowl era, which is why all-time championship lists can look different.
