Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is second with 22, and "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X and Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" tie for third with 19. The Billboard Hot 100 has ranked America's most popular songs since August 1958. Before 1992 no song had spent more than 10 weeks at No. 1; since the chart began using Nielsen SoundScan sales and BDS airplay data in 1991, and later streaming, double-digit runs have become far more common. In 2026 the record changed hands twice. Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" reached 22 weeks on the chart dated January 3, 2026, and Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" passed it in September and reached 24 weeks on the chart dated October 3. Because seven songs are tied at 14 weeks, this top 10 runs to 15 songs.

Songs are ranked by total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (consecutive and non-consecutive weeks combined), as listed in the 'Most weeks at number one' table of Wikipedia's List of Billboard Hot 100 chart achievements and milestones (permanent revision 1380764243), which cites Billboard's 'Longest-Leading Hot 100 No. 1s' list and Billboard's weekly chart reports, with 2026 weeks checked against Wikipedia's List of Billboard Hot 100 number ones of 2026 (as of the chart dated October 17, 2026). Ties are ranked with standard competition ranking: songs with equal weeks share a position (shown as 'Tied position', e.g. T-3), and the following position is skipped. The seven songs tied at 14 weeks share ninth place, so all are included, giving 15 entries; within a tie, songs are listed in the order they first reached No. 1. The rank number on each entry is a list position only. Figures for songs still charting can change after the as-of date.
